SF: This is Stephanie Fries, got Ziggy Marley on the phone, how you doing Ziggy?

ZM: Yeah, doing good how you doing?

SF: I'm doing just fine, now you're coming to Tucson, you'll be here this Thursday, February 5th at the Rialto-where exactly did this tour start?

ZM: Well, the tour start on February 5th and it start in Arizona and we'll go on through the U.S. with Michael Franti and Spearhead , will be nice ...it's not a giant tour together, should be good

Will we be hearing all the fabulous songs off Dragonfly when you come to town?Yeah mon, Dragonfly yeah, that's what we're doing right now, I just came from Hawaii not too long ago, we did all of those and my father's stuff, so it'll be good

SF: I know when I saw you in July, you played some of Bob's stuff is that a given at a "Ziggy" show?

ZM: Yeah! Definitely!

SF: Will we hear you do your rendition of "Drive" from the upcoming soundtrack from the movie?

ZM: Ziggy laughs ...ah yes it's possible, I haven't really thought about it yet...that's a good possibility and that's a good idea.

SF: Can't wait to hear that oneWhat other sound tracks are you featured on?

ZM: I'm to get done a song with Sean Paul being in this animated movie that Dreamworks is doing, I play a part in it, it's called "Sharkslayer" or something like that, so we're doing a song for that also. I do the voice for a jellyfish.

SF: A jellyfish, that's great

ZM: Yeah!

SF: Have you done the voice work for that yet?

ZM: Yeah, I did some of it and I still have some more to do-there's a lot of actors in it like Robert DeNiro is in it, and then Will Smith is in it...lots of good actors are in it.

SF: Do you find it hard to get into character when you just go into a room like that with microphones?

ZM: yeah, I mean I'm not an actor, I never really studied that, you know I did some plays when I was in like elementary school-but I don't think I'm like a good actor so.

SF: No?

ZM: It was kinda a learning experience and I hope I did good.

SF: I wanted to ask about your experience when you were on or I should say will be on WB's "Charmed", we'll get to see that just a couple days after you're here in Tucson, what was that experience like?

ZM: With "Charmed"?.. It was cool, I mean we just played some music it was a club scene and we were playing in the club so that was not hard.

SF: Any other acting situations coming up in the future for you.

ZM: No, music

SF: You're going to focus on music right?

ZM: Music is my forte, you know

SF: Yeah! Well hey I noticed on "Dragonfly", at least to me, some different flavours to your music, who else besides your parents have influenced you musically?

ZM: Well musically the whole world influence me in a way that, because to me, being a musician is about being open to the inspirations and open to things that you probably would never do if you were like a closed-minded person so, it's not so muchthat I took Jazz from this and the jazz from that, being of open-mind things are easily pulled into me, so who knows where I get some of these from, sometimes I don't know they just come out you know

SF: How old were you when you wrote your first song? Do you remember?

ZM: How old, I'm not sure probably about ten or so.

SF: Do you remember what the song was?

ZM: It was about a girl you know.

SF: I heard a rumor and you need to tell me wether this is true or false OK?

ZM: Alright

SF: I heard you have a new CD that will be released in the Spring in the UK long before it's available here in the states, true or false?

ZM: Ziggy laughs then says "false"

SF: That's false? Really?

ZM: Yeah who said that

SF: Well actually someone I know here in Tucson that deals in imports

ZM: I just haven't done, I haven't thought about it yet

SF: I wanted to ask are you in any stages at all of your follow-up?

ZM: Working on it

SF: Just in the phase of like writing?

ZM: Yeah

SF: Do you do any writing when you're out on the road?

ZM: Yeah mon! All the time.

SF: Do you?

ZM: Yes!

SF: Well Ziggy, I'm a member of your on-line community

ZM: Alright

SF: I've notice quite a few pictures of you, talking on the phone or giving a hand signal that you want the phone, besides keeping in touch with your loved ones when you're out on the road, what do you like to do with your down time?

ZM: With my down time I watch movies, read, play games, I work out, play soccer

SF: What kind of work out?

ZM: Like exercising ...running, soccer, lifting weights, everything.

SF: Cool. I noticed on your album, David Lindley was one of your studio musicians ...do you pick your own studio musicians?

ZM: Yeah, I mean some people give me ideas and I say sure let's try it and then if the music is right, it's right you know.

That's what counts it don't matter like, I don't care what you play where you're from who you produce, it depends on what you're doing when you're with me. That's what counts I don't pre-judge anything or anybody.

SF: Cool. I had the pleasure of going to Jamaica for Sunsplash back in 85', if I were going back this year what's the one place that you'drecommend I go see?

ZM: Well you'd have to go to Nine Miles, it's nice, you know where my father is resting there, his body's resting, besides from that it's out of the city in the mountains ...the stars are so clear there and it's such a nice vibes up in the hills there, it's high it's really high up in the hills, fresh air and good vibes you know

SF: It sounds beautiful

ZM: Yeah

SF: Is there anything in particular that you want to talk about?

ZM: Everyone should just love each other right now, you know

SF: I want to ask you, a lot of people dream about the kind of life that you have, what do you dream of for your life, what are your dreams?

ZM: My dream is to live a good life and be loving, be close to God and be a good human being and bring peace to people that's my dream you know.

SF: Yeah.

ZM: Yeah that's my dream basically with my kids I'm alright, I give my kids what em need but basically that's my dream and that's the truth.

SF: Is the Tucson audience are they good to you when you come here?

ZM: Yeah mon, all the time, every time.

SF: Want to tell us anything about your opening act Michael Franti and Spearhead?

ZM: Spearhead, well good vibes...we'll see. I haven't seen them in a while .... l toured with them many years ago and it's going to be good, it's going to be a beautiful vibe.

SF: I think I've gone though just about all of my questions, but I'd sure like to talk to you some more, is there anything in particular you'd like about to our listeners?

ZM: No, no we're cool ...Just looking forward to coming there to play music you know ...and I gotta go back and finish my workout and get ready to come on the road.

Ziggy: I like doing nothing, actually. But something - watch a movie, read a book. Play music, but doing nothing is better thing when I am not working.

Ziggy: From my father, I don't know where he got it from, I just know I grew up with it.

urbanrush : My question- does he plan on working with lauryn hill anytime in the future on her new album- and will she be coming out with one?

Ziggy: anything is possible, we talk, it's always open, it's always possible.

drake : How is your mom?

Ziggy: She's good, she's soing a lot of work in Ghana. Lot of charity work, she is good.

Ziggy: Dennis Brown, Toots & the Maytals, Bounty Killer, and....many more

Ziggy: Because I want to communicate with the people who come to the site. I like to communicate, so I like to do a web chat. I've apprecaited all the great vibes I've read from people on the web site.

Ziggy: yeah, of course, I've done that in the past. Best way to get across the spirit of the music.

Ziggy: The experience I had with a Dragonfly that made me write that song. It was special. It signifies good stuff, prosperity.

Ziggy: Not yet, as soon as I know, you know.

Ziggy: Garlic!

Ziggy: When I get into different moods, there is one I sing to myself. There is not one that is more significant, it depends on the mood I am in.

nesta4282 : what are ur feelings on herb in society right now? laws ect

Ziggy: I think it's wrong the way they criminalize herb. I think, um, there are many more uses than just smoking. Beneficial to mankind. I like, in Canada, they have relaxed those laws...people are letting their views be known. Especially medical. Keep telling the politicians, soon, nobody will be going to prison for smoking it.

Ziggy: Good. Have your own opinion. I have no time to think if its too commercial. If it is, it is, If it's not, it's not.

Ziggy: I just do what is in my heart.

Asherah : eh, do you believe we're living in the last days as in Revelation somewhere towards the end...?

Ziggy: There is no last days. Because, I mean, it is a time ofgreat catastrope and negative energy, but no last days. The earth will survuive.

Ziggy: No.

peacenow : How do you feel about Bush's involvement in iraq & mid east?

Ziggy: Well I think that um, that American should have a policy of love. That should be the foreign policy, love. Export Love. I don't think we should so anything that should make the people hate the American people more.

Ziggy: We should promote love.

Ziggy: I mean, when history tells the story of time, the truth will be known!

Ziggy: I get a big smile in my heart!

maria_New_Jersey : What would you say keeps you all such a strong family? You are a beautiful family.

Ziggy: Upbringing, the lessons we've been taught by our parents and grandparents. The lessons we're been taught in childhood.

sbarvir : are you still a veggitarian?

Ziggy: I eat fish, so not a total vegetarian. But I eat healthy.

Asherah : do you do horseback riding?

Ziggy: Yeah, I used to. We used to have horses in Jamaica. We had a farm, horses, sheeps, goats, cows. I lived on a farm.

Steph_in_Tucson : Will the Les Paul Company be giving you one of their new special edition Bob Marley guitars that I recently read about?

Ziggy: Yeah!

Ziggy: Umm...from 86 or 87 ...I'm not sure, somewhere between there.

Ziggy: All people is one people.

Ziggy: love and peace and children. Fresh air and trees. And...making love :)

Ziggy: I don't know, I haven't heard, I want to try to get it over there more. I've spoken to a lot of middle eastern media here, but I haven't heard if it's being played there. I wish it is being played there though.

Ziggy: We're trying to get it together, I'l let you know as soon as possible. If we don't to it in the Fall, we'll do it in February, but I really want to go. When I know, you'll know.

Ziggy: I watch the news. I watch what's going on in the world. I like watching news. But I was watching "Survivor". I like that show.

Ziggy: Wow...ummm....I would say, it's hard to say, I like being in Saint Anne, looks like you can touch the stars.

Ziggy: There's more to life than physical and material

Ziggy: Spanish, a few words, but not really. I speak love though.

Ziggy: Ah! A good one, I guess I like Manchester United right now. It changes sometimes.

Ziggy: I like that one, a good one - I like the movie.

Ziggy: I've been recycling. I've started books, but not finished. I recycle, when I want to read, I pick up a book and I read. I read many at one time. Like Bible and other kinds of books like the Bible.

Ziggy: No, I'm not too fond of that.

Asherah : do you like the Lord of the Rings?? and if so did you also read the books?

Ziggy: I love those kinds of movies. The message in that is very strong, I like that. I bought the books and I started reading them, but I haven't finished reading them.

Ziggy: President Bush. Make some changes, you know. Make the world a better place. Legalize marijuana.

misty_morning : there are many books that are about ur father and his lif which one is closet to the truth?

Ziggy: I'm working on it. We're going to tell you the real deal when we do it. From first hand, from the freal knowledge. No second hand.

Ziggy: Love each other man, that's all

Ziggy: Hmmm...my rebellious nature, yes.

Julian : In the press (april 2003) we read about a new discovered tape with unreleased Bob Marley songs. Could you tell us some details about these songs?

Ziggy: There's no details yet. When I know, you'll know.

Fran_Brazil : does Rastas belive in the Bible??

Ziggy: We believe in the almighty. The Bible is the book that is inspirational. But we don't beleive in the Bible, we believe in the almighty. It's a spiritual connection, not a physical one.

maria_New_Jersey : Are your children following in your musical footsteps? And if so, how would you feel about it?

Ziggy: They have to learn to read and write and count and stuff. To be good human beings. They can take whatever paths they choose. Right now school is the most important thing.

Andy_Cali : do you play any other instruments?

Ziggy: Yeah, I play anything I put my hands on, I can play. I might not be a professional, but I can do my thing, you know?

marleylove : are you very close with your grandmother?

Ziggy: Yeah mon, grandma!

Ziggy: I wrote this poem you know, it's called love and it goes like this: "love".

Ziggy: Pre question: What do u think bout the fact that many songs of your father are still unreleased? Will it change?

Ziggy: There's not many, but there's a few. Hopefully we'll get them to the people as soon as possible. Right now it's my grandmother's. He gave it to her. So we'll see.

ZigZag_Illinois : Are you into Cars at all?

Ziggy: Not really, I'm into like trucks. I like jeeps, off-road vehicles. I'm driving a Discovery right now. I like vehicles that can do something - utility- not the luxury ones.

j.williams : who's idea was it to have your kids sing on the new cd?

Ziggy: Theirs

peacenow : with so much violence with today's youth, what advice can you give parents?

Ziggy: parents...umm...I would the best advice I can parents is to teach by example, not just by words, but by example, by everyday life, the best way to teach.

Ziggy: We'll go until 9!

Ziggy: I like the fender that I have. Some artwork was done on it. It's a Strat, Fender Strat.

Ziggy: yeah mon, I mean, everyone has right, we should respect the rights of artists, the musican, his creativity, you know, we should all respect that.

Ziggy: Yeah, I like Fleetwood Mac.

lauri : what do you think about politics in California?

Ziggy: I don't think about it, I mean, the political system is not for the people. The people are secondary to the economy, of the economics of the state. It's about what generates money. Being about money, it's not about what benefits the people.

onelove : do you ever spend time up in nine miles?

Ziggy: Yeah mon, it's a beautiful place to be

onepath : Will there be a DVD from the Dragonfly tour ?

Ziggy: Not yet, we haven't planned on that yet.

Absorbed_By_Zion : do u have any pets?

Ziggy: Yeah, I used to have this little mouse, it was a mouse that came by, I kind of digged it. I by birds from the pet store and I let them go, that's what I do, those are my pets. I have a dog, but it's not really my dog, it's the kids dog.

Julian : When do we get a tour in europe? we need that definitely over here ;)

Ziggy: Next year, we're planning it right now.

Ziggy: Oh definitely. Looks for something surprising within the next couple of years, you know?

Ziggy: No.

Ziggy: Yeah, it was a great experience to be with their audience and the people who love music for music, it's beautiful

Ziggy: Yes, definitely. Yoga is a great thing and meditation is also great to get connected to yourself more you know.

Ziggy: Usually I just like peace, to be quiet and get my mind ready for what I ahve to do.

Ziggy: It's my home, I've been away for a while now, but it's always home.

Asherah : do you have a favorite painter?

Ziggy: Well I got into umm, I like art in general, I've not such knowlege of the specific. I just enjoy all art, it don't matter who do it.

yvonne_williams : How was it working on "Sharkslayer"

Ziggy: Was fun, was very fun, a new experience for me. Kind of weird, you have to act with your voice and I'm not an actor.
